The ARCHI3 Series

The ARCHI3 series is an open-ended series of 3" CDs showcasing new experimental artists from Portland and beyond. This format is a perfect length (clocking in at just under 21 minutes). Short formats have long been the property of the underground-- the CD3 follows closely in the tradition of the 7" and 12" EP in this regard.

The ARCHI3 releases appear in pairs every quarter. Each pair of releases is related thematically--the two artists are related or are similar in their style, working process, or philosophy. The emphasis is primarily on electronic music or in this infinite genre's crossover areas. The recordings can both stand alone as individual releases (hence the inclusion of the series into the label's normal cat. numbering) but make excellent listening when observed side by side.

At the present time, the CD3s we're making are high-quality CDRs. Don't be put off by the blue backing; these will play in all CD players.These are not home-burned CDRs, they are made using the highest quality burners by skilled engineers at Conversion Media in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Some older CD walkmans and a few wonkier CD boomboxes will probably not play CD3s whether they are replicated as CDs or replicated as CDRs.
